One of the most significant Baptist pastors of nineteenth-century New Jersey was William Rollinson, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Rahway. . . . For some thirty years this pastor, referred by state Baptist historian Thomas S. Griffiths as “an able preacher, a high toned Calvinist,” whose hearers “returned to the sanctuary, confident, not in the man, but in the message he brought to them,” served this key church. --David J.
