The second subject in our soon to be released book - A Noble Company, volume 11 - is Hezekiah Harvey (1821-1893).

“Let no word of man come between your souls and the pure Word of God.” So said Hezekiah Harvey, professor of Biblical Criticism and Interpretation and Pastoral Theology, on the day that William Newton Clarke graduated from the seminary at Madison University. Harvey was a man of deep piety and spiritual fervor, whose earthly tabernacle was weak all of his adult life. Despite physical infirmities that precluded his first choice in Christian service as a missionary in China, limitations that affected his pastoral ministry and ended his teaching career, Harvey was a solid, faithful man, whose love for God and His Church stands as a rich legacy in nineteenth-century Baptist life. --Jeff Straub
