"In November of that same year [1853], Magoon had occasion to go back to Second Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia, to hold special meetings. The Christian Era wrote: 'A meeting for quite a number of days has been held with this church, and with powerful effect. Dr. Magoon, of New York, has preached evenings to crowded congregations, and held inquiry meetings in the forenoon and afternoon. A large number have been convicted of sin, and converted to God. Some twenty have been baptized. A deep feeling pervades most of the Baptist churches.' " -- David Baughan
