Chapter 1 review - forthcoming biography: John Mason and Sarah Paine Peck, Missionaries Extraordinaire
17th Jul 2024
John Mason Peck (1789-1858) "was a man with unusual vision and unbelievable willpower, coupled with nearly inexhaustible energy. He would become a missionary, preacher, historian, editor, social and moral reformer, and professor-scholar. The term indefatigable captures something of his drive and energy, and though it is an overused adjective, it comes as near to describing Peck as anything. There was probably no other contemporary who traveled more, or knew the land and people of Missouri and Illinois better than Peck. His knowledge came from his commitment to God, an astute mind, and disciplined work ethic in everything he undertook. Further, during his travels he was an analytical and constant observer of his environment."
Quote from Chapter 1 in our forthcoming biography: John Mason and Sarah Paine Peck - Missionaries Extraordinaire, by Myron Dillow.
